Senior Services
There are almost 50,000 older residents in the Town of North Hempstead, and most of them want to remain in their own homes and familiar communities as they age. Project Independence is the first comprehensive aging in place initiative to be sponsored by a local government in New York State.
Project Independence - is designed like a big umbrella, bringing together local health care providers; human service agencies; social, educational and recreational programs and local businesses as partners, as we respond to the needs of seniors seeking support and assistance in order to remain at home with optimal good health, safety and emotional well-being.
Project Independence is a program of the Town of North Hempstead Department of Services for the Aging (DOSA). It is being rolled out across the town, community by community, in a systematic effort to respond to the needs of those who have given so much to build those communities.
